Beginning to Work on Final Data Change

The Center for Educational Performance and Information began
work Tuesday on the last of its planned changes in school data
collection in the state.
The State Administrative Board approved a $235,000 contract
Tuesday between HTC Global Services of Troy and the Department
of Information Technology for work on CEPI's Financial
Information Database. The project will shift schools from
providing paper financial records to electronic files over the
Internet.
"Instead of having to key in specific information, they'll be
able to upload their data," said Lani Elhenicky with CEPI. "This
reengineers the way financial information is collected."
It also allows the state to break down school district
information to the building level, Ms. Elhenicky said.
